The RTM 322 has 6 modules. Its control system is managed by a dual-channel Electronic Engine Control Unit (EECU). The system provides automatic starting, rotor-speed governing, twin-engine torque matching, temperature and speed limitation throughout the engine operating envelope.
The RTM 322 offers unrivalled carefree handling and reduced pilot workload leading to enhanced flight safety and mission success.
In September 1988, the RTM 322 was selected by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) to power the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force AW 101 helicopters. In late 2001, the RTM 322 02/8 was also selected by Denmark and Portugal to power their AW 101 Merlins.
