The RTM322 received its qualification on July 2003. It has a reduced number of high-performance components (the compressor only has 3 axial stages and 1 centrifugal stage) and therefore offers reduced production, maintenance and ownership costs.
The compressor performance is particularly significant: the engine already delivers more power with a much lower compression ratio than the competing engine.
The RTM 322 powers the AW 101 Export version. The RTM 322 is currently undergoing integration into the twin-engine NH Industries NH 90 helicopter. The NH 90 was selected by NH Industries and Eurocopter as their base aircraft for the applications of the four European NH Industries nations.
