Date set for customer symposium

Seville, Spain is the tentative location of the next customer symposium. The date for the biennial event is set for April 7th and 8th 2004. This symposium is desgined for operators in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The program will cover Arriel, Arrius & Makila engine models, with the latest technical reports from service engineering including information on upgrade and modification programs. Working sessions will also cover the range of services available from Turbomeca and how customers can take best advantage of them.

Military operators convene

A two-day symposium in November allowed Turbomeca and its military customers to exchange information. It was the first such forum for the military. Fifty operators with a combined total of 1,880 engines attended the meeting in St. Jean de Luz, France. Military-oriented symposia are contemplated for other regions of the world.

Field representative of the month

Turbomeca has been a presence in Mike Evans’ life since childhood—his father has flown Turbomeca-powered machines. Today, Mike had 19 years experienced working on fixed wing aircraft and Eurocopter helicopters. Of his job, he has this to say: "After several years experience on the Arriel engine, I was a firm believer in the Turbomeca product. When I joined Turbomeca Australasia two years ago, I challenged myself to provide our customers with the best support available.

First global seminar for field personnel

Field representatives and field technicians from around the world will gather in Tarnos, France January 12-20 for a training program aimed at sharing best practices on a global basis. Third Party Field Technicians from Acro, Heli-Support Inc., Keystone, Heli Union, Motorflug, Helicopters Italia, TUAG, McAlpine, Patria Osterman & Hispacopter will also participate in this seminar. Turbomeca views this intensive seminar and training period as a means of disseminating knowledge, affording field service personnel with a better understanding of the worldwide support organization and enhancing coordination and teamwork.

Milestones

The new Arriel 2B1A, has received the first airworthiness certificate issued by the European Aviation Safety Agency, a new organization responsible for civil aviation safety. The 2B1A will power the Chinesebuilt Z11 MB1, a civil-use, single-engine light helicopter.

The Arriel 2C2 CG has met JAR requirements and has been declared operational for potential use on the U.S. Coast Guard’s HH65 helicopters.
