What is a blade shedding design?
The blade shedding design makes use of frangible turbine blades to prevent turbine disk burst in the event of overspeed. With frangible blades, any fragments released in the event of overspeed are small and of low-energy and remain confined within the engine. The helicopter is thus protected, and safety improved.
